Systema Strikes

The Systema Strikes seminar will be building on the material covered in the May Seminar on Strikes. Striking work is an important aspect of Systema practice, as it is designed to prepare both the body and the psyche for delivering and receiving strikes. We will be using both solo and partnered breathing exercises designed to strengthen and relax the body and mind to minimize the risk of injury from the work. Systema style striking is unique in that we use a relaxed strike that is delivered from a calm and non-aggressive state. This may seem counter-intuitive, but in practice is quite effective. One of the reasons for this is the increased precision and muscle control we have when we are not stressed and tense. Even if you missed our previous striking seminar, or have never tried Systema before, this seminar is a great place to start, as we will be covering the basics as well.

This seminar is suitable for adults (16+) with any amount of previous martial arts experience. No previous experience in Systema is required, as all of the fundamentals will be covered as part of this seminar. This seminar is also good for people with a background in Systema, as it is a chance to build up the material in a prolonged training session.

This event will be held on August 30th, 2014 from 1:30pm-3:30pm in Tonawanda, New York. The cost is $25 per person. For an additional fee of $5.00, participants will be able to attend the regular Saturday morning class from 11:30am-1:00pm.
